In 1993, Joseph Tortomasi bought Tony's Hot Dogs at age 24 and never looked back. What started as a leap of faith turned into one of Birmingham's most beloved institutions — a place where the slaw dogs are legendary and the breakfast crowd lines up before the doors open.

Joseph and Misty run Tony's together at 1922 Montgomery Highway. The menu is the same, the recipes are the same, and the food is still cooked fresh to every single order. In October 2023, they celebrated 30 years — and the line was just as long as ever.

That's why regulars honk their horn in the parking lot and their food is ready by the time they walk in. Thirty-plus years in, Tony's is still the kind of place Birmingham calls its own.
